Why Faster Hiring is a Must
Posted on 05/06 by Erin Helms
When it comes to hiring, time is also talent. The longer you take to hire a new employee, the greater the odds you’ll lose out. One of the top complaints among job candidates is that the hiring process can take too long. Here are ways to speed your hiring process to avoid losing a talented client to a competitor.
Streamline the application process
Make your application process as simple and fast as you possibly can: Allow candidates to upload their resume or to have their information uploaded from their LinkedIn or other professional profile, then move on to some basic questions or ask for a cover letter or personal statement.
Keep the lines of communication open and respond quickly
When a candidate is being considered for an interview, tell them right away. The longer they have to wait to know they’re in the running, the greater the odds of them looking for other positions at other companies. When an interview has been completed, let the candidate know as soon as possible whether they’re advancing to the next round or if you’re moving in a different direction. Remember, too, that people will talk to their friends about whether a possible employer left them hanging when they were waiting to hear about a job.
Incorporate technology when and where you can
Automated skills tests or screening questions will help you weed out resumes that don’t meet your company’s needs or expectations. This way, you wouldn’t even need to see whether someone has the background and skills the position requires; artificial intelligence can do all that for you, presenting only the most skilled and qualified candidates.

We’ll conduct preliminary interviews for you, conduct skills assessments and, when we find qualified candidates we’ll pass along only the candidates who could make a strong addition to your team. We can even help schedule your interviews!

Stand out as a desirable company to work for, and retain your best talent, by understanding what your employees really want. It’s a common refrain from managers and HR offices in the past few years -- “Nobody wants to work anymore!” For what it’s worth, that’s a complaint that has been voiced for more than 100 years; everything old is new again. The truth is that people don’t want to work for less than what they’re worth; they don’t want to be told to be grateful just for having a job that pays them and they don’t want to feel like they have to sacrifice their personal lives and time for a job that doesn’t appreciate them. As a manager, you might be on the defensive already and that’s understandable. But take a moment and consider what your employees actually want from your company before skipping on to your next piece of reading material. Here’s what employees want:
