From Job Descriptions to Culture: Attracting Top Talent in 2025
Posted on 01/15 by Erin Helms
The new year is the perfect opportunity to refresh your company’s recruitment strategies and create an environment that attracts exceptional candidates. Small but meaningful changes in how you hire and support employees can have a significant impact on your talent pipeline. Here’s how to set your company up for success in 2025
Audit Your Job Descriptions
When was the last time you reviewed your job descriptions? Many businesses reuse outdated descriptions, which can hurt their chances of attracting qualified candidates. Here's why you should revisit and revise them: Updated Responsibilities: Roles evolve over time, so ensure your descriptions accurately reflect the current duties and expectations. Inclusive Language: Avoid language that unintentionally discourages certain candidates from applying, such as gendered terms or phrases that might exclude people with disabilities. Clear Requirements: Be specific about what you’re looking for while staying flexible enough to attract diverse talent. Fresh, accurate, and inclusive job descriptions help your postings stand out and appeal to a wider pool of applicants.
Evaluate Your Company’s Reputation
Potential candidates often research your company before applying, reading reviews on platforms like Glassdoor or Indeed. Negative or neutral reviews can deter top talent, so it’s essential to understand your public perception. Online Reviews: Look for patterns in feedback about pay, culture, and work-life balance. Address recurring issues to improve your reputation. Social Media Presence: Ensure your company’s profiles and website are up to date. Use high-quality, recent photos that represent your team and work environment. Internal Culture: If reviews reveal internal issues, address them proactively. Happy employees are your best brand ambassadors. Improving your company’s reputation not only attracts new talent but also helps retain your current team.
Cultivate a Welcoming Company Culture
A supportive, inclusive workplace is critical for attracting and keeping top performers. Consider: Employee Appreciation: Recognize and reward contributions throughout the year. Wellness Programs: Offer health and wellness initiatives to support your employees physically and mentally. Safe Environments: Foster a culture where all employees feel respected, protected, and valued. Address conflicts promptly and transparently. Creating a positive work environment builds loyalty and encourages referrals from satisfied employees.
Expand Your Reach
If your job openings are only listed on your company’s website, you’re limiting your visibility. Broaden your recruitment efforts: Social Media: Share job openings on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram to reach diverse audiences. Local Partnerships: Collaborate with colleges, alumni networks, and vocational groups to connect with skilled candidates. Recruiting Services: Partner with a staffing agency like LaborMax to access a larger pool of pre-screened candidates. Expanding your job postings’ reach increases the likelihood of finding the perfect fit for your team.
Review Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits are key to attracting top talent. While it can be challenging to match competitors’ pay rates, you can offer other incentives. Flexible Work Options: Remote, hybrid, or flexible hours appeal to today’s workforce. Comprehensive Benefits: Include health insurance, mental health resources, wellness programs, and paid time off. Professional Development: Offer training opportunities to help employees grow within the company. Candidates are looking for employers who value them as people, not just workers. Show that your company is invested in their well-being and future.

Summer 2026 Event Staffing: Coverage When It Counts in Six Host Cities
Match Week 2026 is heading to Kansas City, Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, and Seattle — and if you run a hotel, a venue, a facility, or an event-services company in one of those cities, the headline isn't the matches. It's the squeeze. When hundreds of thousands of visitors land in a single market over a few weeks, every operation that touches them feels it at once. Front desks get slammed. Banquet floors run short. Parking lots, loading docks, and event corridors need bodies that didn't exist on the schedule last year. And the labor pool you normally pull from? It's getting recruited away by everyone else trying to staff the same surge. This is the part most operators underestimate. The crowds are predictable. The labor gap that comes with them is what catches teams flat-footed.

Your next project isn't behind because of weather. It's behind because you can't staff it. That's the reality facing operations leaders across construction, warehousing, and logistics in 2026. The work is there. The demand is there. What's missing are the skilled, reliable people needed to do it — and the gap is widening every quarter. Here's what the numbers say, and what they mean for your business.

The April employment report delivered a stronger-than-expected signal for employers: growth is happening, but companies still need flexibility to keep pace. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall nonfarm employment increased in April, with the economy adding 115,000 jobs. That number came in well above the expected median forecast of 65,000 jobs, according to a Bloomberg survey of economists. Temporary staffing also moved in a positive direction. U.S. temporary employment rose by 7,900 jobs, reaching 2.5 million temporary jobs in April. While temporary employment remains below its March 2022 peak of nearly 3.2 million, the latest numbers suggest that staffing activity is beginning to firm up. Staffing Industry Analysts Economist Michael Schultz described the April results as “surprisingly strong,” adding that “this is the first time since last summer where a strong month was not immediately followed by a weak month.” For companies evaluating their workforce plans, that matters.
